Haven is an app for all mothers, providing a safe space for those going through the perinatal journey. Connect with others who share similar experiences and find resources to help navigate the challenges of motherhood. This project placed 3rd place in the “FemTech” Dubstech 2023 Protothon. For this event, our team had only 24 hours to complete our product.

Design a FemTech Solution that helps Mothers through Postpartum
Obtaining postpartum care can be a challenge for all mothers. Especially for immigrant mothers who may face various barriers, including insufficient support networks, restricted access to resources and education, as well as language and cultural barriers that hinder outreach efforts.
To get a sense of our design space, our team conducted preliminary research through interviews and secondary research. We looked through existing solutions, as well as resources and and scholarly articles related to postpartum depression.
Through our research, we aligned on three key insights.
How might we mitigate isolation while encouraging connection and support through community for all postpartum mothers?
For people struggling with PPD, a common struggle was finding the right circle. With Haven, we wanted to create a space in which people can discover their ideal support network, ask questions and exchange experiences tailored to your preferences.
Through our research, we found that finding the appropriate resources and help was a pain point for those struggling with PPD. Through our lens that focused on immigrant mothers, we found that struggle was amplified for those in a new country. With Haven, the ability to post for help allows people to easily locate appropriate resources in order to meet unique postpartum needs in a new country.
The last pain point we wanted to focus on for those struggling with PPD was the inability to deal with isolation. A key insight in our research was that the effects of PPD can be amplified when mothers feel stuck or isolated. The ability reach out through Haven allows mothers to learn about exciting events and assists in motivating new mothers to step out of their isolated homes, further engaging with their community.
